Always at Maple Lake though depending if it's every other year sometimes only for Labour Day weekend or maybe a week, when we have big trips (Disneyland, D.C.) in the spring or summer or, like this year, we stay much longer.
Maple Lake because we have a cottage there and because unless you like the really cold weather and LOTS of snow--the best time to go is later summer.
I live in a condo, we have a pool which I almost no one else uses. A kid my kid had in last year's math class works there full time as well as another guy his age. So I guess I sort of hang by the pool a bit. Went today with spouse before dinner. Swim as much as I can.
This summer during the day. I'm the "adult driver" whilst my kid learns to be the teen driver. Spouse and I "debrief" one another afterwards and we rate How It Was by how scared he made us! LOL.
You really want to know about my summers as a kid? My summertime Bio:
Maple Lake Ontario --all summer, every summer from age 6 -13.

I can hear the “bombs bursting in air,” or at least the simulated suburban version of them as the United States begins celebrating Independence Day, 2008.
All I can really think of is: I’d rather be at the cottage. I’m pretty sure our little dog, Raven would rather be there too because the number of “bombs” going off at Maple Lake right now is probably pretty few despite the fact that just two days ago Canadians celebrated “Canada Day.” They have shown that they can be every bit as celebratory as the Americans when conducting fireworks shows whether they be in a backyard or in a town park.
Mountain Trout House, Dorset~
I have felt like up and leaving to go north any number of times, just because why hang around here? I have an appointment next week but I’d really like to clear out of here a day or two later.
Reach Harbour~
The guys can follow me up a week after that. Can’t go any sooner because youngest son’s Driver’s Education class does not finish until the 3rd week of July, plus his monthly blood test monitoring liver function due to taking Accutane and the very small window every thirty days that the blood test can be done.
Anyway. There have been some lovely new additions to the Webcams Across Ontario site and it appears that the Haliburton cam is now working a bit better. I still had to do crazy things with the contrast but at least I was able to do something.

How much does a ticket cost at your usual movie theater? Does the price affect the number of movies you see at the theater?
I go to the Barrington 30 (So. Barrington, IL) cos' they are the most comfy and there's a nice, sort of country drive to get there. Nice in the summer, especially. Plus the theatre is tricked out pretty well. Lots to ogle. No expense spared on the coming features paraphernalia. (That Chimps in Outer Space movie looks stupid.)
We saw Wall-E last Sunday evening. Almost ten bucks US. Nine-seventy-five, full admission, $7.75 for matinées. Spouse likes to buy discount tickets from Costco. Using them makes it possible to see movies anytime for the matinée price, which to answer the question, wouldn't keep me away from a film that I want to see on the big screen.
Next must-see should be The Dark Knight unless there's a Depp movie or something on impulse.

What's the hardest part about the role you play in your family?
I'm the mom. Is there an easy part that someone forgot to tell me about?
I live with three guys and a little bitch (Raven).
They are smelly and messy. When the guys work out or otherwise exert themselves then dump their clothes in the laundry hamper and then I, the primary clothes-washer, pluck them out--the smell is gag-inducing.
Also, they have a threshold of "infinity" for what is an acceptable amount of dust coated about before they will do anything to rectify it. One in particular leaves whisker shavings all about the main bathroom--ick! Would they ever change the bathroom towels if I didn't? I'm not sure they would. They see no need to change the bedsheets, either.
I'm the lone woman in a house full of guys--that's the hardest part.
What's your "go-to" movie? The one you watch when you need to just get away from it all?
Submitted by uncagedbird.
It's very deep.
It all about avoiding responsibility and finding fun in every moment.
What are the goofy nicknames you have for your pet? Bonus points for sharing a picture of him/her.

The Ravenator, Craven, Ravinia, Raisin, Princess Bark-a-lot.
What's your favorite midnight snack?
Submitted by Raina.
A cup of Earl Grey tea and reduced sodium Wheat Thins. I try to make it just the tea which I take plain 'cos Ilike the taste of the tea.
I don't know if tea drinkers in other parts of the world do this but my Canadian parents started giving me tea as a child. I'd drink a half glass of milk and then my dad would offer to add tea to the other half. It was good! Probably would taste wretched to me now, though.
What is one thing you MUST do before you go to bed at night?
QotD: We must talk. You are so--how to say without sounding condescending? You seem to have a very narrow view of the world. I no longer am surprised or even annoyed really when you assume that everyone on Vox has the Northern Hemisphere timing on change of seasons or even for that matter, that they have seasons at all. Apparently, there is a place called San Francisco and that counts and the rest of the world, well, what rest of the world, right?
OK to the question. Rephrase. What is the one thing I must do before going to bed for the day? "Day" in this sense can mean one's work day or day-in-the-life. But your assumption that I go to bed at night is wholly wrong and it's not because I am a vampire.
I go to bed and sleep at about 4:30 a.m. and that is because of several factors not the least of which is that I get work assignments beginning at 12 midnight Eastern which I must complete within a fixed time frame and the clock starts ticking as soon as I get them.
So my answer is: Before I go to sleep in the morning one thing I must do is finish working. Cheers.
What was your first car?
I'm going to interpret this Q broadly as the first car I drove--the one I learned on--the car I shared with my dad.
It was The Sexy European...a Capri like these two, only white.
It was pretty cool and it was a stick.
However, the first "car" that I outright owned was given to me for my cross-country move to California and it defined practical.
It looked exactly like this.
Check out the amenities. Awesome for camping...and stuff.
What personality trait has gotten you in the most trouble?
I'm too blunt.
People ask for an opinion and then sometimes they aren't happy with the answer. Sorry, you asked! It's OK to just tell me I'm wrong.
I'm very honest* I suppose, to a fault.
So I forget to "pretty up" the phrasing of something and tick people off.
Or at least I used to.
*Does that sound conceited? See, that trait doesn't get me in trouble per se but while we are letting it all hang out, I'll cop to that.
And I'm a bitch sometimes when I let my buttons be pushed.
Maybe I just should have stopped at blunt.
What most excites you about the way you're living your life right now?
Surprises always "excite" me (I hate surprises--always have) and there's been an abundance of them of late.
Never knowing exactly what to expect of the coming day. Every day is a surprise--some are good--some not so good. This morning, for instance, I was working here on the computer and I heard some noise out in the living room. It was my younger son who was on his computer--at 3:40 a.m. He complained of waking with bad stomach pain, not being able to get back to sleep because of it. As I talked to him the pain grew worse. I got him set up on the couch with pillows and a blanket (his bedroom is downstairs and I wanted to keep an eye on him upstairs where I am/ was). My mom always said that ginger ale helps a problem stomach so I got him that to sip on. I sat with him a while, then let him be while I went back to work. Before I went to sleep I checked him--he was sleeping too.
He was still ill when his father got up to my two Post-it notes explaining the situation, though I muttered something to Pops as he got up because I never truly went to sleep.
When we finally got it hammered out it turned out that Chris had taken an overdose of his acne medication, Acutane by forgetting a dose then taking two in one day(!) This flipped me out more because he'd just gotten a new prescription--and they are planning to increase the dose but no one could agree how much he had been taking vs.what he was now taking so finally the light bulb came on and I called the pharmacy.
He was on the same dose. But you cannot mess around with Acutane and take two full dose in one day.
I'm rambling but I've had a couple hours sleep at at best and to clarify my answer to this question is: my life is "exciting" for about 16 different reasons but today it is so because I thought my kid was going to need a trip to the emergency department to get his stomach pumped and than thank the gods he didn't.
*Please no lectures on the dangers of Acutane. The kid at age 15, is already permanently seriously scarred on his back and shoulders. His face has lesser scarring though it is permanent as well. We tried every other option--this is a last resort.
