Finally found a place to rest my computer and plug in.
It's hard to get into town--leaving parents behind in their country home but today my bro and I have managed it. First attempt was foiled after we bought really expensive coffee and found the DSL was "down."

Not much in the way of news. It's been several days since I had any decent sleep so that might explain a bit. It is lovely in the country but I like conveniences and my dad still will not cotton to the wonders of cable anything. I could've easily fallen asleep waiting for this blog to fully load. Small problems for sure but I suppose I just like to be wired when I want to be.

Exciting stuff, I know.

I wish I remembered to tune in to Ferguson. I'd watch for the accent alone. ;)

I don't want to whine about work but does the word "audit" elicit any anxiety in you? It didn't in me so much as it mandated a ton of work--unpaid of course. But enough bitching!

My dog Raven, a Schipperke, is pretty much her own boss. She is totally miffed with me in these shots as she does not agree with my choice to put her on the long leash. She seems to be having a bit of a withdrawal from cottage life sort of like I did (am?)

This is the most I got from her--a glance that sort implies ..."Whatevs!"  I had to call he a couple times to get her long leash. Usually she cannot wait to get out the door and rushes to get it on. Not this time.

Thank gord it's over. Another hurdle. Many more to come as spouse and I were discussing tonight. I worry that Chris  is not disciplined enough to keep his grades up and that if he goes away to college at age 17  he'll  really be in a one down position of having to take on a LOT of responsiblity--and will he be able to to cut it? This is early I know to be fretting as Chris is only 15 and in the next couple of years with any luck he'll mature and get his priorities in line and his ambitions focused. I wonder how much of my own mistakes I'm using as a point of reference here?  Families and their repeating patterns!

The Expo was big fun. The kids are amazingly smart, worked incredibly hard, and it's very obvious that they will have a successful career by any measure. One guy that I've been hearing a lot about is a friend of my son's, Ray Li, who invented a board game and is now marketing it. A sophomore. Just blows my mind. I was too busy chatting up the kids about their projects to get many photos but here are a few including the one that seemed most popular:

I was just flabbergasted that this guy created a board game and he's selling it! My son helped him promote Lineage by playing it at lunch time and  by participating in a tournament that he won. Ray gave Chris a $10 gift certificate good towards purchase of the game. Chris say Ray is "cheap." :D

And last but not least a "fearsome weapon" somewhat like a crossbow used by the Greeks, Romans, and in Medieval times, replicated with safety and other modifications by my son.

 

He had to do the demo outside. Can't be flinging around stuff from a "fearsome weapon" inside school. :D
