What was your first car?

I'm going to interpret this Q broadly as the first car I drove--the one I learned on--the car I shared with my dad.

It was The Sexy European...a Capri like these two, only white.

It was pretty cool and it was a stick.

However, the first "car" that I outright owned was given to me for my cross-country move to California and it defined practical.

my first car wasn't nearly as cool as yours... either of them!!!

OMG, I love the fact you had a VW Camper.......how utterly cool! And you still read Rolling Stone.........can you imagine your coolness factor with your boys if you'd kept it??????

My buddy Jeff had one of "the sexy Europeans" when we were in high school. I remember thinking it was cool, although the "sexy" and "European" parts were lost on me. His was a dark metallic blue, btw. Nice ride.

The Capri's design really took a nosedive after 1974.
What had been a economically-made but rather inexpensive sporty car of German origin morphed into something else entirely after skipping a year of production.
My Dad picked this one precisely because it was before the very un-sexy change. It was a fun ride w/ V-6 engine on a rather small car--it could go. And I went . ;)

My poor camper died after I drove it cross country over a two-week period moving w/ my bf from Connecticut to California when I was 18 years old. But it was Connecticut winter that killed it. :( as it was bought new by my folks in 1970.

We did camp in it when I was a kid and I thought I was lucky that I slept up top in the pop-up section!

I drove VW bugs most of the time I lived in Southern California. Very economical--nowhere near as fun to drive, though.
